Privacy policy.
Last updated: 15 July 2026. This policy explains how Fairdeal Renovations Limited (trading as Painting-and-Decorating.com), Company No. 15026869, registered office The Workspace Basildon, 7 High Pavement, Basildon, England, SS14 1EA, handles your personal data. We are the data controller for the purposes of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What we collect
When you request a quote we collect what you give us: your name, phone number, property address or postcode, a description of the job, and any photos you send. If you join the newsletter we collect your email address. Our website itself sets only essential cookies (see the cookie policy).
How we use it
To prepare and send your quote, schedule and carry out work, keep records required for accounting and warranty purposes, and — only if you opt in — send occasional decorating tips and offers. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making.
Our quote flow uses WhatsApp, which means messages you send are also processed by WhatsApp/Meta under their own privacy policy. Send only the photos and details you are comfortable sharing that way; you can always use phone or email instead.
Legal bases
Contract (preparing and performing your quote and job), legitimate interests (responding to enquiries, keeping business records), consent (marketing emails — withdrawable any time), and legal obligation (tax and accounting records).
Retention
Quote enquiries that don't become jobs are deleted within 12 months. Records of completed jobs are kept for 6 years to meet accounting and warranty obligations, then deleted.
Sharing
Job details are shared with the local decorating team carrying out your work — that's the minimum needed to do the job. We use standard service providers (hosting, messaging) under appropriate safeguards. We never sell or rent personal data.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, or object to processing — email info@painting-and-decorating.com and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we handle data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
