Terms & conditions.

Quotes are free, provided in writing, and fixed for the work described in them. A quote is based on the information and photos you provide; if the reality on site differs materially (for example, concealed damage we could not have seen), we'll pause, explain, and agree any change in writing before continuing. Quotes are valid for 30 days.

We agree start dates in advance and keep you informed. Exterior work depends on suitable weather; where conditions make proper application impossible we'll rearrange promptly rather than apply coatings that will fail.

You may cancel or rearrange free of charge up to 48 hours before the agreed start. Where you book at a distance (online or by phone), you also have a statutory 14-day cooling-off period; if you ask us to start within it, you may be charged reasonably for work already done. Cancellations within 48 hours may incur costs genuinely incurred (such as pre-ordered materials).

Please provide access at agreed times, tell us about known hazards (for example asbestos-containing artex), and secure valuables and fragile items you'd rather move yourself. Parking permits, where a property requires them, are arranged by you unless agreed otherwise.

Payment terms are stated on your quote. For larger projects a schedule of staged payments may be agreed in advance; we never ask for full payment before work starts. Payment is due on completion of the work (or stage) to your satisfaction, per the walkthrough.

Every job ends with a walkthrough; anything not right is corrected before the job is signed off. If a defect in our workmanship appears afterwards, contact us and we'll put it right. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 our services must be performed with reasonable care and skill — where they are not, you are entitled to repeat performance or an appropriate price reduction.

We carry public liability insurance (see insurance). We are not liable for pre-existing damage (flagged before we start), for wear and tear, or for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Raise any issue with us first — info@painting-and-decorating.com or 020 8050 6362 — and we'll aim to resolve it within 14 days. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales (or your local courts where consumer law provides).
